Vantage Point: A Year in the Taillights

From the desk of 2018 RRC President Gary Williams, CRS

This past year has flown by so fast. It seems like just yesterday when I was standing on stage at the 2017 Inaugural in Chicago being sworn in as your president. Right from the start, we began working together through the many changes affecting our RRC family. While we’ve experienced some ups and downs, I am confident that we remain strong and resilient.

Our educational programs are better than ever. We introduced a host of new courses such as Working with First-Time Home Buyers: A Blueprint for Success, a new one-day course that includes tools and resources to help agents develop their niche and activities to help them build a pipeline plan to convert their consultations to a digital format. Building a Dynamic Team is a new two-hour eLearning course featuring segments that include self-assessment tools to help agents gauge whether to expand and how. Finally, our new Smart Home Certification that launched this year is fast becoming a very popular new program.

We enlisted some highly talented new instructors within our teaching cadre like Marki Lemons-Ryhal, CRS, Kim Cameron, CRS, and Matthew Rathbun, CRS, who have recently joined our distinguished group of educators.

We introduced Alexa and Google Home Find a CRS programs. And we also launched the brand-new Sound Bites video series of interviews that help real estate agents quickly get informed on hot industry topics. And, of course, our great referral network programs have been expanded and are more valuable than ever.

Another great achievement in 2018: We were able to recruit many new major donors for RPAC contributions from our RRC family. This accomplishment has now placed the Council’s membership as the highest major donor contributor of all the NAR affiliates! What a worthy cause that underscores the tremendous support from our RRC family. Great job by all!

These are but a few of the resources the Council has introduced to the RRC family this past year. What a great time to be an RRC member and to earn your CRS Designation!

At the beginning of the year, I promised I would call every state leader and all 13 regional vice presidents. Talking with each of them and discussing our goals in support of the Council this year was enlightening for me. To see the willingness from all of them to support our cause was terrific.

In closing, I have a favor to ask all of you. I would like all designees and members—all of our RRC family—to join me in pledging your full support for the 2019 leadership team and the Council staff. Thank you to the entire RRC family once again for all your continued support of the Council this past year.
