Last summer, Kathleen O’’Donnell, CRS, principal broker of O’’Donnell Group Realty in Portland, Oregon, received a call from Larry Walker, CRS, a broker associate from Kissinger Bigatel & Brower in State College, Pennsylvania. He had found O’’Donnell through the CRS website and asked if she could help his clients who were selling their family home and moving, with three children in tow, to Portland. The big challenge was finding them something commensurate with what they were selling in State College, a significantly less-expensive, cooler market. The mother and daughter came for a long weekend and O’’Donnell was able to show them some newly-built homes on the outskirts of Portland that were in a good school district and within their modest price range. They made an offer almost immediately. Their house sold and they were able to transition with only a few days of being “homeless.”
