Championing Community and Inclusion

Gladys Pelegrin's son

Gladys Pelegrin, CRS, a sales agent at Coldwell Banker Vanguard in Jacksonville, Florida, has over two decades of real estate experience. However, her philosophy goes beyond real estate, as she believes life is about more than just transactions. With three children, including her nine-year-old son, Julian, who was born with Down syndrome, Pelegrin understands the importance of giving back. As an established REALTOR® and a prominent figure in her community, she sees herself as a well-equipped catalyst for positive change.

“Life is more than just real estate,” says Pelegrin. “I am grateful for all of the blessings in my life, and I have always felt in my heart the need to give back.”

quote from Gladys PelegrinPelegrin’s commitment to her community is evident in her numerous initiatives. She has assembled backpacks filled with school supplies for underprivileged children and organized Thanksgiving baskets to provide families with the means to enjoy a proper meal during the holiday season. She has also anonymously sponsored foster children to ensure they experience the joy of Christmas with gifts and toys. Giving back is not a mere option for Pelegrin; it’s an inherent part of her identity.

One significant effort that demonstrates Pelegrin’s commitment to her community is her financial contributions to various charities. She has pledged to donate a portion of her commissions, reinforcing her dedication to making a difference.

Pelegrin’s most recent endeavor is her nomination to run for “Champion of the Year” with Best Buddies, an international nonprofit organization that supports individuals with intellectual and developmental disabilities (IDD). This involvement is deeply personal, driven by her love for her son and her passion for promoting inclusion for all people. The “Champion of the Year” event is pivotal for Best Buddies, as it raises a significant portion of the organization’s annual funds.

“It’s an honor to be a voice to raise awareness and funds for an organization that makes such a big impact on individuals with IDD,” says Pelegrin. “Having a child with Down syndrome has changed how I look at the world and given me a bigger purpose. For years, I have seen firsthand the impact the Best Buddies programs can have on individuals with IDD, and it is truly inspiring. I believe wholeheartedly that part of my bigger purpose is to make a difference by helping with the inclusion of people with IDD like my son.”

Pelegrin’s dedication to her community reflects the essential role that CRS Designees can play in giving back. Real estate is not just about properties; it’s about building stronger, more compassionate communities. With their desire to make a difference, agents like Pelegrin can inspire positive change and empower their communities to thrive.
