Thousands of kids drop out of high school every day. Merit Goodness wants to do something about that. The online company pairs style and comfort in its line of clothing and accessories, donating 20 percent of its revenue to college scholarship funds. Merit Goodness’s nonprofit arm, Give Merit, also operates the FATE mentorship program, which connects University of Michigan students with underserved high school students in Detroit to foster relationships, provide guidance and encourage them to attend college. The company eventually wants to expand the FATE program into other cities, such as Dallas, Los Angeles, Philadelphia and New York.
