Zillow Historical Timeline 2005-2015

  • April 2005:  Founders Rich Barton and Lloyd Frink begin assembling a team for the launch of Zillow. One of the first hires is Spencer Rascoff.
  • February 2006: Zillow launches its site, attracting more than 1 million visitors in its first three days.
  • September 2010: Spencer Rascoff is named CEO of Zillow
  • April 2011: Zillow acquires Postlets
  • July 2011: Zillow becomes a public company, trading on NASDAQ under the ticker symbol “Z”
  • November 2011: Zillow acquires Diverse Solutions
  • November 2012: Zillow acquires Mortech
  • December 2012: Zillow acquires Hotpads
  • August 2013: Zillow acquires StreetEasy
  • July 2014: Zillow acquires Retsly
  • January 2015: Zillow announces launch of Data Dashboard, a recording and listing management platform
  • February 2015: Zillow acquires Trulia. The company forms the Zillow Group, a portfolio of real estate and housing-related brands
  • April 2015: Zillow cancels agreement with Listhub, which had been feeding listings to their site.
  • June 2015: Zillow sells off Active Rain, which was acquired through Trulia
  • July 2015: Zillow acquires Dotloop, an electronic document signing platform.
