As the number of multigenerational households increases, some homebuilders are responding. PulteGroup Inc., one of the nations largest builders, expects the trend to increase sharply in coming years. Its important that homebuilders understand how to best meet the demand of multi-generational households, says Scott Thomas, Pultes national director of product development. Features that Pulte and other homebuilders are incorporating into their new homes for multigenerational families include :
- Separate master bedroom suites
- Larger great rooms
- Additional bathrooms
- Separate entrances to home/mudrooms
- Separate laundry rooms
